The Pineapple Isle
Lanai - A place to "get away from it all". This
is the Island that Bill Gates rented for his wedding and he could have gone
anywhere.
The two major resorts on this island are the oceanfront Manele Bay Hotel and
the Lodge at Koele in the mountains. Both offer award-winning, first-class
accommodations.
Also known as the "Private Island", Lanai has a total area of 140 sq. miles
- 18 miles long and 13 miles wide with 47 miles of coastline. Population is
2,426 residents who are mostly found in the vicinity of Lanai City, the only
major town on Lanai. The highest point is Lanaihale at 3,366 ft above sea
level. The official color of Lana'i is yellow. Lanai's flower is the Kaunaoa
(Yellow and Orange Air Plant)
